最近的一個案例與簡.巴特林有關，她的未婚夫約翰擁有一家生意興隆家具店。有一天約翰的生意很好，他把一只裝有3,000 英鎊的錢包放進微波爐內保存。然后，他和簡一起去騎馬。

ca: 多指需要加以認真研究的實例，如病例，案例等。

example: 指能代表同類事物性質或一般規律的典型例子。

instance: 多指用于說明、支持或反證一般事實或理論的事例。

sample: 通常指樣品。

illustration: 指用來說明、解釋某種理論或看法而引用的例證。（大學英語4、6級作文必考詞，考研英語2必考詞）

specimen: 可與sample換用，但常指人或物中選出的有代表性部分，或指供科研、化驗或檢驗用的標本。

accident: 強調偶然或意外發生的不幸事情。

incident: 既可指小事件或附帶事件，又可指政治上具有影響的事件或事變。

event: 可指任何大小事件，但尤指歷史上的重大事件。

occurrence: 和happening這兩個詞多指日常生活中發生的一般事件，有時也指偶然發生的事。

①表示“與…有關”

As concerns him, I have nothing to say. 關于他, 我無話可說。

或者也可以使用be concerned with sth.

The book is concerned with English. 這是一本有關英語的書。

②表示“關心、擔心”

We are all concerned for her safety.

我們大家都擔心她的安全。

在使用concern表示關心時，都暗含著擔心的意味。這里做一下區別：

worry: 側重對未知事態演變的憂慮。

care: 強調因出于責任感或顧慮等而產生的不安。

concern: 作“關心”用時，是indifference(冷漠)的反義詞，側重對他人健康、安全等的關心，也可暗示對困難、危險或失敗等的憂慮。

③be concerned to do sth 表示“認為…重要”

She was concerned to write about situations that everybody could identify with. 她認為有必要寫出來好讓大家都能看得清楚的狀況。
