1) 有能力的，有本事的，能（做……）的

例句：

Will Tom be able to come to our party?

湯姆能來參加我們的聚會嗎？

able和capable 用法上的區別：

1） 在意義上：able只表示褒義，而capable則可以表示褒義也可以表示貶義。

2） 在搭配上：able僅能用于有生命的人或動物，而capable不僅能用于有生命的人或動物，還能用于無生命的事物；able后面接不定式，而capable后面接of加（動）名詞。
