I always ask mylf what can I do for our great Chine dream ? As

we all know that the wir the youths are ,the wir the nation will be;the

wealthier the youths are ,the wealthier the nation will be;the stronger

the youths are ,the stronger the nation will be. Here the word wealthy

means: enriching our knowledge a new generation of youth ,

every one here shouldering the great historical mission of making china

powerful and strong.

You may say that this may exaggerate our role, but I want to say you

are wrong. If I am a little screw our great dream may be a multifunction

and complex machine. Through this example I just want to say I am very

tiny but I am indispensable .

I believe that as long as all of our young people unite together and

perform our own functions that study hard in school and work hard after

we graduating from university . We must be able to achieve our great dream

meanwhile enrich ourlves unwittingly!

Good afternoon ，ladies and gentlemen!

I’m very honored to stand here and give you a short speech! my topic

is Opportunities and Challenges.

First, I would like to know, what does your destiny offer you?

Happiness, wisdom, a strong body or something el. If I had asked this

question to president Nixon, he would probably had said,”Our destiny

offers not the cup of despair, but the chalice of opportunity.”

Needless to say, one of the biggest opportunities given to China is

the 20xx Olympic Games. Till now, we have ud two venths of the

preparation time. How much changes have you en? New roads, new subway

lines, public-exercising equipments with beautiful colors, large blocks

of grass fields, and also lots of modern gyms which are under construction.

Other than tho, there are even more good effects brought to us by

the Olympic Games that cannot be en directly. For example, more and more

people will get to know China. I’m sure the mysterious Chine culture

will attract them strongly. And the games will also do good to the economy

and environment, for it is gaining the attention of foreign investors and

the awareness of environmental protection is being strengthened. What is

more, Olympic Games give a unique opportunity to inspire and educate a

new generation of Chine youth with the Olympic values and the Olympic

spirit. Now that we have en so many advances, could you even imagine

us losing the holding rights?

I’ve already said a lot about the Olympics and China. But I think

everyone should u some time to think of this question, ”Does the Olympic

Games have any special meaning to you?”

For us, I mean the Chine youth, 20xx Olympic Games is a tremendous

gift. Becau what we are waiting for is to do something significant as

repaying the love given to us .The society is just like a ship, and in

our dreams the captain is waving his hand and saying ”Hey! Come here and

take the helm! ”How charming his voice is, but we have never heard of

it in our true life. This morning, however, when we wake up, we will e

the Olympic Games waving its hand. After chewing, most of us will have

at least one plan about what to do for the Olympic Games. And mine is to

be a “comforter” ----that is someone who will give comfort to others.

At the end of my speech, I hope all the preparation will go well, and

on my birthday two years ago, many special things happened on me. and

i would

remember them forever.

that morning, i rode my bike to school happily as usual. on my way

to the

classroom, i saw some of my classmates. but when they saw me, they

rushed away. that made me confud. becau they would talk to me or play

jokes on me before. but it was strange today.

when i came into the classroom, i found the atmosphere was quite

strange.

everybody looked at me and laughed loudly. suddenly they all said in

good order,“happy birthday to you!” then they began to sing “happy

birthday to you~~~~~~” that made me moved. i never told anyone about my

birthday, how did they know? i believed they must have done a lot of things.

at that moment, i found nothing to say but thanks instead!

after school, a thing coming as a surpri happened on me on my way

back home. when i was riding suddenly a crowed of people rushed out to

stopped my bike.i recogized them at once. they were my nior classmates.

they all comlained to me,“why don't you tell us about your birthday? don't

you fear that we will let you stand treat? this time you owe us.” then

each of them gave a gift and a card with best wishes to me. i was deeply

moved again. i suggested having a dinner together. but they all refud

becau of the time. then they left me saying we would ask you to pay us

another day!

when i got back home, i thought of everything happened today. suddenly

i felt so happy becau i had such great friends around me. i thanked them

from the bottom of my heart. i would value the precious friendship forever!

i have so many feelings through that special day. the only ro without

thorns in the world is friendship. a true friend is someone who reaches

for your hand and touches your heart. truly great friends are hard to find,

difficult to leave, and impossible to forget. one friend in a lifetime

is much, two are many, three are hardly possible. stick to make friends,

forlife without friends is like life on a dert island. to find one real

friend in a lifetime is good fortune, to keep him is a blessing.

my hometown is lhasa, the largest city on the roof of the world. it

is the heart and soul of tibet. i think lhasa is one of the most beautiful

cities in the world. it is surrounded by towering mountains and rarely

a day goes by when you don' t e the deep blue sky. lhasa river is flowing

quietly around the city.

lhasa is the mixture of tradition and fashion.

firstly, lhasa has a long history. it is the political, cultural and

economic center of tibet. it has lots of famous sights to offer. the potala

palace is the most famous, a magnificent and wonderful place to look at.

in my opinion it is a unique artistic achievement of the tibetan people.

likewi, the architecture, carvings and paintings throughout the city

show hard work, wisdom and bravery of our people.

condly, led by the reforming and opening policy of china, lhasa has

changed a lot. many new things have arrived up here, changing the face

of the city. the old and new lie side by side in lhasa.

many new buildings, schools and roads have been built here.

furthermore, the qing-zang railway leading to lhasa is being built. many

shopping centers have been opened, and modern technology like

telecommunications is spreading. the whole city looks prosperous, and our

tibetan people take on a new look. every festival, people walk around

freely on the new, wide and smooth streets, wearing the beautiful

traditional costumes.

right now, i am looking forward to a festival called shodün which comes

in june for eating yoghurt. at this time, all my family and i gather for

a picnic together at the norbulinka, a famous garden. in the garden, we

sing tibetan songs, dance “guo zhuang” on the grass; eat zanba, drink

butter tea and barley beer on the beautiful carpet as well. we enjoy our

life. i think that this festival exhibits the open-minded and optimistic

character of the tibetan people.

finally, “i love my hometown. i love the people in my hometown.”.

The cynics say the college students are the pampered lost generation,

type tested in order to make a contribution for the children who suffer
