lack 的用法

☆ lack可作及物動詞也可作不及物動詞，意為“缺乏；沒有；短缺”。作及物動詞時，后面直接接名詞作賓語；作不及物動詞時，一般接介詞for，構成lack for短語。如：

In the hot summer the plants lack water.

在炎熱的夏天，植物缺水。

Our football team has only ten men — we lack one player.

我們的足球隊只有十個人——還缺一個隊員。

She lacked the experience for the job.

她缺乏這份工作的經驗。

As he is very rich, he lacks for nothing.

他非常富有，不缺任何東西。

☆ lack還可作名詞，一般作不可數名詞，意為“缺乏；短缺”，后面常接介詞of表示缺少的內容，構成lack of短語。如：

The match was called off due to lack of support.

比賽因缺少贊助而被取消。

Lack of heating made us cold.

沒有暖氣使我們感到很冷。

We didn’t find the passport, but it wasn’t for lack of trying. 我們找不到護照，但并非是因為我們沒去找。
