考點34 目的狀語從句

英語里可以用to，in order to，so as to，so that，in order that來表示目的。

1. to，in order to，so as to引導目的狀語短語，構(gòu)成簡單句。

He has to earn lots of money in order to/to/so as to rai his family.

他賺很多錢是為了養(yǎng)家糊口。

2. so that，in order that引導目的狀語從句，構(gòu)成復合句，并且從句中謂語動詞常與can，could，may，

might等情態(tài)動詞連用。

Speak clearly so that/in order to everybody can understand you.

請說清楚一點，這樣每個人都能聽得懂。

3. so that

so that既可以引導目的狀語從句又可以引導結(jié)果狀語從句。引導目的狀語從句時譯為＂為了＂，引導結(jié)

果狀語從句時可譯為＂以便＂。

He workedn hard at his lessons so that he could gain high grades in the exams.

他努力學習功課，爭取考試能獲得好的成績。

He workedn hard at his lessons, so that he gained high grades in the exams.

他努力學習，結(jié)果考試取得了好成績。

so that引導目的狀語從句時，表示＂以便，為了＂，從句中常使用can，could，may，might，will，would，

should等情態(tài)動詞或助動詞；引導結(jié)果狀語從句時，從句中一般不用can和may等詞。

He has to earn so lots of muney so that he can buy his children nice food and clothes.

他必須賺很多錢才能給他的孩子提供好的飲食和衣服。

在句型中，such修飾名詞，意思是＂如此……以至于……＂，引導四種不同的

句子結(jié)構(gòu)。

(1)such+a(n)+形容詞+單數(shù)名詞+that從句

This is such a good book that all of us like it very much.

這是一本很好的書，我們大家都喜歡讀它。

(2)such+形容詞+復數(shù)名詞+that從句

They are such good students that the teacher likes them.

他們都是很好的學生，老師喜歡他們。

(3)such+(形容詞)+不可數(shù)名詞+that從句

It was such fime weather yesterday that we went swimming.

昨天天氣很好，我們?nèi)ビ斡玖恕?

(4)one(no，any，all，many，some，veral等)+such+可數(shù)名詞+that從句

There are many such good books that I can’t decide which one to choo.

有這么多的好書，我無法決定選擇哪一本。

5. so...

so...句型中的so是副詞，常用來修飾形容詞或副詞，意思是＂如此/這么……以至于……＂。

(1)常用句型：主語+謂語+so+adj./adv.+that從句

The boy ran so fast that I couldn’t catch him.

這個男孩跑得太快了以至于我追不上他。

(2)so+形容詞+ a(n)+單數(shù)名詞+that從句

She made so good a meal that we all ate far too much.

她做的飯菜那么好吃，結(jié)果我們都吃得太多了。

(3)so+many/much few/little(少)+名詞+that從句

當名詞前有many、much、few、little(少)等詞修飾時，句子中要用so...而不能用。

There was so little water in the jar that it was not enough for all of us.

缸里的水太少了，不夠我們這些人用。

注意：當little的意思是＂小＂時，仍用。

6. 用in order that引導：in order that的意思是＂為了＂。

He is working hard in order to pass the examination.

=He is working hard in order that he can pass the examination.

7. 用in ca引導：in ca此時的意思是＂以防＂＂以備＂。

I always keep a bottle of wine by in ca friends call round.
